The Makerspace Central Ignite! workshops are project-based, hands-on design engineering challenges where students build usable devices that they can use in their everyday lives! Workshops typically range between 1-2 hours.

12 and up Programming

A Space Journey

In this workshop, students learn about the design engineering process and use what they’ve learned to get back home safely from a journey into space. In this scenario participants can only rely on themselves and their ideas! Materials required for devices provided.

Powering up With Renewables

In this workshop, students learn about the design engineering process and use what they’ve learned to design, build and test a power source for a home. This culturally relevant workshop covers renewable energy topics. Materials required for devices provided.

8 and up Programming

Shocking Art

In this workshop, students learn the basics of electronics, build their own circuits, all while creating a fun art piece! Materials required for devices provided.

Going Fast with Solar Vehicles

In this workshop, students will make a solar powered vehicle while learning about electricity! Materials required for devices provided.

empower! Workshop series

The Makerspace Central “Empower!” program is a series of project-based, hands-on design engineering challenges where students work in teams to learn and apply specific STEM concepts over 8-10 sessions.
